Check Out Justice League Members Standing By Superman's Grave In New Deleted Scene Still
In recent days, we have seen a wave of behind-the-scenes photos from Justice League make their way onto the internet. Zack Snyder keeps sharing glimpses at sequences and characters that never made it into the final, abridged cut of the film, and his latest offering is one of the most interesting yet. Specifically, the director has shared a picture of the League standing by the grave of Superman (Henry Cavill) in Smallville. Check out the photo, below.
Justice League definitely offers a glimpse of this sequence, but it looks like Zack Snyder shot a more in-depth version of the scene than we had initially assumed. In this iteration of the grave robbing scene, instead of just seeing Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) digging up the Man of Steel, we instead see that Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and Wonder Woman (Diana Prince) are both present for the act as well, despite Diana's protests to it.
Of course, there's one notable absence from Zack Snyder's Vero-released photo: Ben Affleck's Batman. This portion of the movie takes place right before the team opts to head for Metropolis to revive the Last Son of Krypton, and it seems logical to assume that Bats may have stayed behind to prepare the logistics for the other portions of the mission. After all, he is the world's greatest strategist.
This photo shows an interesting new layer to the Superman revival portion of Justice League, and it also continues to hammer home the fact that the film originally spent far more time in Smallville than the theatrical cut would have led you to assume. In fact, another recently-released photo from Zack Snyder also shows a scene involving Lois Lane (Amy Adams) spending time at Kent Farm with Martha Kent (Diane Lane), thus suggesting that the Kent homestead had a far more substantial role in the first cut of the movie.
Now it's a matter of waiting to see if we will ever see a restored version of Zack Snyder's Justice League that shows any of these sequences. As we have documented numerous times over the last few months, there's a vocal segment of the DCEU fanbase that has called for the release of the "Snyder Cut," which would depict a lengthier version of Justice League supposedly more in-line with what Snyder originally wanted to release. Not only would the Snyder Cut likely feature many of the scenes that the Man of Steel director has teased in recent weeks, but it reportedly also would feature an appearance by Darkseid (who only gets a brief shout-out in the film) to set up a much more significant conflict further down the line. We've had no word that this cut will ever happen, but it's still interesting to think about.
Justice League is currently available on Digital HD and Blu-ray. Pick up your copy, and make sure to keep an eye on the DCEU for the upcoming release of James Wan's Aquaman, which will debut later this year on December 21.
